We took some special time after the big group to capture some special moments for this little man and his family! It was so much fun today to go back and see this handsome little man! The last time I saw him, he was just a newborn. It is amazing how much these little ones grow in just 3 short months. It was great seeing you again. I said I only kind of look forward to our next session, just because that means summer is over :( But I can't wait to see Mr. W. again! Enjoy your summer with him!!!

A big smile for mom!! We worked hard to get these. They are really hit or miss at this stage, and he had a fun morning with mom and used up lots of them before I got there, but he still saved a few for me!!

A Blog Apology

First of all, I believe in my last post, I said I'd be a better blogger. I've failed. The past month, I've been a very bad blogger. However, I've been CRAZY busy! As most of you know, I'm also a full-time teacher, and the end of the school year has been crazy. So with lots of homework for school, a daughter adjusting to summer time hours (i.e. not going to bed until about 9ish), that leaves me to start my work at about 9:30.

So, no excuses, I've gotten lazy. I'm a big fan, and user of Facebook. I know most of my clients are too, and love to see their pics up there and share with their friends. So I've taken to sharing my previews, etc. on Facebook. It's quick and easy. By the time I get them up there, I usually decide it's time for me to go to bed! I always mean to blog the next day, but then there are other things that come up.

So with summer time now officially here, I've been busy. I have a new blog in the works, as well as some changes to my website. I've been super busy with sessions, as you've seen if you've been keeping up with me on my FACEBOOK FAN PAGE . (If you're not a fan, you should be, just click here to become one!) Anyway, I'm really excited about the new blog. It will be a few weeks yet, but stay tuned. I PROMISE when I have my shiny new one, I will put it to good use, and it is my goal to blog DAILY. Yes, DAILY! Hold me to it!!!

So with that said, I apologize, I really do. Thanks for hanging with me!! Enjoy your summer, and the wonderful time with your family. I know I will!!

Happy Mother's Day!

First of all, Happy Mother's Day to all of you mothers and soon-to-be mothers. I hope your day was wonderful and you were treated like the queens you all are! My day was great. I'm so lucky to have the best mom and also the best daughter anyone could ask for. They are beyond amazing. I would be LOST without my mom, in so many ways. She is my best friend, my #1 Avery baby-sitter (I couldn't do this without her), and the best Nana I could've ever dreamed for my daughter. She is just so amazing in so many ways and I'm so beyond blessed to have her as my mom. Love you Mom! I also shouldn't leave out my mother-in-law either. I know I said my mom is the best Nana ever, then my mother-in-law is the best Grandma. Seriously, Avery doesn't know how good she has it! :) I know how lucky I am to not only have such an amazing mom, but such an amazing mother-in-law too. I'm sure not everyone can say that, but I honestly can. Love you too Roxy, and I'm SO lucky to have you as my second mom! :)

I have to apologize for my bad blogging lately! To be perfectly honest, this has been a crazy busy time of year. As most of you know, I'm also a 4th grade teacher, and we are in the midst of testing season/winding down the school year and my 25 10 year olds are keeping me BUSY!

I'm usually up until pretty late editing and working, and I've gotten bad about just posting preview on Facebook, as it's much quicker, so I usually just do that with the best intentions to blog them the next night, but then I'm on to the next task. It is my May resolution to be better about it! Anyway, not trying to make excuses, just being honest, but I promise I will be better! I know not everyone has Facebook access, so I don't want to leave anyone out!

I also hope to add more posts on my blog about me, my family, and whatever else I may feel like, so that you can get to know me a little better too. I feel so lucky to get to come into your homes and meet your families, that it might be fun for you all to know a little more about me too.

Finally, I hope to add a new look to the blog here in the coming weeks. It's first on my summer to-do list, to give my blog a face-life, so be on the lookout! I can't post without a photo, so here is a snapshot of my daughter and mom on our visit to Florida to visit my brother this summer!

It was so fun to see this little beauty today! I got to photograph her newborn session (click here!) in October, and it is so fun to see how big she has gotten! She is moving to Texas in two weeks, so I'm a little sad, as it is probably the last time I will get to photograph this pretty, smiley girl! This age is just so much fun, and she didn't disappoint. This little man worked hard for these pictures today, so he gets an extra big preview! Handsome little miracle, W, is actually not even supposed to be here quite yet, but decided to come into the world a little early at 33 1/2 weeks..the same as my daughter! So we had lots to talk about today! Finally he was able to come home last week, after a long NICU stay, and we were able to get his photos done for him today! This weekend I met up with pretty little A and her mom! This weekend just reminded me how much I LOVE taking photos and doing this. I'm so lucky. This little beauty was just a champ. She is 10 weeks, which can sometimes be a tricky age for photos, but she rocked it! She was wide-eyed and so strong, even pushing up already to show us her beautiful eyes, and then fell asleep at the end, and even let me play with her just a bit like a newborn. It was so much fun. 11 Week Old Mr. C.

This weekend I took a mini road-trip to Iowa with my college roommates, minus one who lives in CA for the time being. We visited one of our other roommates who had this handsome little dude in December! Mr. C is 11 weeks old, and was just adorable. We had such a fun girls night just hanging out, catching up and taking turns snuggling up this little guy, and of course he got a little photo session on Sunday morning, because who could resist this cuteness? Kate, he is such a sweetheart and it was SO good to see you!!! Can't wait to see you again this summer :)

It's pretty safe to say that I could've just packed this little man up with my blankets and taken him home with me after his session today..though I think his mom and dad might like to keep him around! He was just 8 days old, beyond adorable, and a dream to photograph! Aside from that, he has a beautiful big sister who will be turning 3 next month, and mom and dad were a blast to hang out with. Well today I got to photograph another snuggly newborn...well not really, but kind of! Some good friends recently welcomed a new little girl to their family, and today we got to take some photographs of her and the new fam! She is just a peanut! She doesn't even weigh two pounds! She was just like a newborn. She was awake for a few, and by the end of our session she was falling asleep! It was great to see you both this morning, and meet miss Rayna She is a beauty!! Remember this beautiful little girl from this summer? I got to visit her again today to take her 1 year photos! We had lots of fun. We were stuck inside as the weather was not very nice, but and as much as she was dying to show me her new walking skills, she did a great job! I love those beautiful eyes and that smile. So I'm a bit early, but I had a session get rescheduled for today, so I took advantage of a free morning, and took a few pics of my little one to make Valentine's Day cards for her friends! I just wanted to share my little love, because I just don't do that enough on here. I should also note, at nearly 27 months, I think this is the first time I've gotten consistent smiles and eye contact! Either I just got lucky, or she now truly understands bribery! :) Whatever it is, I'll take it! Stay tuned to my blog, because tomorrow I will be photographing another beautiful newborn!! Meet Miss A! She is just 6 month olds, and I got the pleasure of hanging out with her and her mom this morning to get some photos of her. What a beauty she is! I just love 6 month olds because they are SO expressive, and she was no exception! She was full of smiles for us, and even managed to squeeze a quick power nap and bottle break during her session, wake up, and was ready for round 2! That was a first for me. I had the best intentions of getting a special thank you sent out to all of my wonderful clients of 2009, but here it is, January 11, 2010 and I don't have it done! So I decided to do it this way instead! I am so thankful for all of you who welcomed me into your homes and your families and let me capture your special moments. I have so enjoyed getting to know all of you. I feel so blessed to be able to do what I love.

As a part of my thank you, from now until February 1, those who reserve sessions in 2010 will receive a $50 gift card to use towards prints or digital files from your 2010 session. All you have to do is a pick a month from now until December 2010! Your session fee will be due at the time of booking, but you don't even have to choose an exact date in 2010, just the month and I will pencil you in! We will chat as the date draws closer. If you already know of a little one's upcoming birthday, have a little coming into the world in 2010, or know that you will want some family photos, or a senior session this summer or fall, this is an IDEAL time to get on my calendar. So one of the things I love about being a location photographer and getting to come into your homes, is seeing photos from previous sessions up on display in your home! Yesterday at a session, I saw this in the office and just LOVED it! We did these photos at his 9 month session, and the mom did a gallery wrap and 2 8x10 photos and it looks so great displayed on her walls. Another option for a photo like the middle one is a standout, which is a bit cheaper then a gallery wrap, but gives a similar effect. These are both such great ways to display photos on their own, without a frame. I do have samples of each, as well as other items I offer, that I will be bringing with me to sessions from now on so just ask to see them if you want!

One thing I've really grown to love since starting to take photos, is LARGE photos!! I used to be stuck in the school picture photo package mindset, where I though an 8x10 photo was huge. Now, I use those photos as accents with larger photos and they just seem small anymore, when displayed individually on a wall. Another photographer from Rhode Island, Amy Ro Photography, recently posted THIS article on her blog, about big prints, and I thought it was really interesting. I actually found this post from another photographer which I adore, Amber of Little Moon Photography. She is amazingly talented, and her newborn photos are truly works of art. You should take a second to check both of these ladies out if you get a chance and want to see some beautiful photos.

Just wanted to take a second and share these with you. After seeing those photos displayed yesterday at my session, it just made me thing about this and though it was worth sharing!

This little man has just recently turned one, and I got to go hang out with him this weekend for some 1 year old photos! The frigid arctic air kept us stuck inside, which can sometimes prove challenging with busy little ones on the move, but we sure made the most of it and got lots of fun shots! I think the temp in my car said -19 when I got there! I've had enough of this freezing MN winter already. I had a great time seeing you this again this morning H family. Happy New Year! I know I'm a few days late, but I just wanted to wish all of you a very Happy New Year and wish you all of the best for 2010. I also wanted to say thanks for making 2009 so wonderful. This business has taken of more then I could've hoped and I am just loving every second of it. I am so excited for what 2010 holds in store! Keep checking back because I've got a lot fun new plans, products, and things coming up in 2010!! I'm starting back up with sessions again this weekend after a really nice few weeks off to enjoy the holidays with my family. I am SO excited to get going again! This morning I got to hang out with this twelve day old beauty! Ms. B. was just a doll. It was a nice change of pace to spend some time with a newborn. I met up with this family at their cabin for some outdoor pics, and we had a blast! We actually had a really great day to be outside for late November. I love the hat/bundled up pics too! Two Year Old Beauty!

I had such a fun morning with this little beauty and her mom and dad. Last time I saw her she had just turned one, and now she is TWO! She was one of my first clients last year, and it was so fun to see her again. She also was sure to tell me just when I got there that she is going to be a big sister this spring. We enjoyed perhaps one of the last mild Sunday mornings we might have for awhile and got outside. I am loving how they turned out so far.

I headed down to Mankato today after-school for a family session with this GORGEOUS family! They look like they could be the family in a frame at the store don't they? Mom had the idea for some pics around the campfire, since that is where they like to spend lots of time, and it was so fun! The sun had set, the fire was going, and we got some great photos!! This morning I went to Chaska and got to photograph these beautiful kids. Four kids, 2 boys and 2 girls equals lots of fun for me. They were so photogenic, it made my job so easy! We met at their grandparents' house and I told their mom I may have to rent it out from them for winter photo sessions. This morning I got to photograph this beautiful little lady and her family! She is a baseball buddy of my daughter Avery. Their daddy's both play on the same baseball team in the summer, so it was fun to see how she has grown since August. She is cute as ever of course! It wasn't the best weather, as that seems to be the case lately. We braved the damp, chilly morning and got some great pics. It was great seeing you again...can't wait until the Brewer party!

This little beauty is 10 days old, and I got to take her photos yesterday. She didn't want to miss any action, and wanted to make sure we got plenty of pics of her pretty eyes...and we did. She did finally drift off to dreamland and we got some sleepy pics too. I had a great time meeting her, and her mom and dad. It turns out they are from Iowa too, so we had lots to chat about..including the Hawkeyes! Hope you enjoyed the game last night! :)

I can't believe these two cutie pies are already 6 months old! They are so much fun and I always enjoy taking their pictures. After spending the weekend with my nephew down here, who is 6 weeks older then my daughter and watching how much fun they had together playing together, I can only imagine how much fun these two are going to have growing up together! I met up with this handsome little man and his family Sunday morning. I decided I could still take their photos, even though his dad plays on a rival baseball team of my husband! :) I have to give them credit though..his dad's team did win the state tourney this year..and I can see already this little man is probably going to follow in his footsteps as he was showing me how his stick was a bat! He was a cutie pie, and was a really good sport for a chilly morning and just getting over a cold :( It was great seeing you guys again!

What a great way to end a Monday..with this little beauty! I love newborn sessions because they are so peaceful and relaxing, and it was perfect after a Monday with a snowfall and a group of 26 very excited fourth graders! This little beauty was welcomed by her parents which you may remember from a maternity session not long ago. She is just beautiful, and was perfect for her first big photo session! Holiday Cards!! Yes, the leaves are officially starting to change colors, school is back in session, so that means the holidays are right around the corner right??? Well maybe not quite yet, but it isn't too early to start thinking about your holiday cards. I've chosen a fun variety of cards this year, that should hopefully have something for everyone. Below are a few samples...keep in mind that simple changes can be made, like color changes and text.

These cards are beautiful! They are 2-sided printed on high-quality cardstock. You have the option of flat, semi-gloss, or linen paper (has a slight texture). The other side of your card would basically be the same as the background in the front, with the option for another picture (in some cases), more text or just a solid print. Some cards also have the option of having more then 1 photos on the front. You can certainly ask and I can see what I can do, but do know this isn't an option on all cards, and will really depend on the photos you are wanting to use. After you order your card, you will be sent a digital proof of your card, and you will get 1 revision for free. After that, each additional revision will have an extra fee. Tonight I met up with another Chaska senior, and we survived the crazy wind and manage to get some beautiful senior photos for her! It was crazy windy, but it actually worked out great and we worked with it and around it and I love how these photos turned out. It was hard to narrow it down for a preview. She has the most beautiful, curly hair, and such a fun personality, so it made my job pretty easy. I had so much fun meeting you both tonight. I hope you had fun too. Days like to today reaffirm that fact that fall is indeed my favorite season. The weather, the colors, everything! Today was just perfect, and this morning I got to photograph a beautiful little girl to top off this beautiful day. I saw a little park near their house when I arrived, and found a tree that had already changed and dropped most of it's leaves and knew we had to go there! These first pictures are some of my favorites ever! I just love them. She is such a doll. I hope you love them too! It was great to see you again!

September/October Booked!

I just wanted to post to let you know that I am completely booked for September and most of October. I have 1 opening the weekend of October 24-25 and I do also have some sessions open on my mini-session day on October 10th if you are interested in those photos for the holidays. Yesterday I photographed a beautiful Prior-Lake Savage Senior. She was actually one of my mom's students in second grade, so that was fun! Tonight I got to do something new for me...take pictures in the pool. SO awesome!!! This Chaska senior is a diver, so were were pretty lucky and had great timing, and we were able to get into the pool for a few pics. He had seen picture he kind of liked, and I think we were able to get one pretty similar!! I LOVE how they turned out..I hope you do too. Clearly, the camera loved Connor too and he was a natural. Tomorrow one of my dearest friend's little girl turns 1! I got to take some photos of her and her family today, and of course of Miss O by herself. She was my second little newborn to photograph last year (click here to see). I think both sweet O and I have come a very long way in a year! Yesterday I got the pleasure of photographing a Chaska senior. It was a beautiful night for photos, and this ranked up there as one of my favorite sessions. I say that because this daddy better watch out...as he has some beauties on his hands! This little sweetheart is about 1 month old and has a cutie pie big sister to look out for her. She slept great for being older, and was awake plenty for us too. Her sister T sure loved the camera too, and was my assistant. She went and got her camera and took pictures right along side me. I got the cutest picture of her taking a picture of me! I forgot it with this set but will try to get it up tomorrow. Thank you so much for having me out. It was fun to meet your new little one. We'll sure miss you at daycare this year T! Enjoy your time with your family!

Yesterday I photographed another soon-t0-be Chaska senior. After a few formal shots at his house, we headed to downtown Jordan for some outdoor pictures. Jordan is such a beautiful spot to take photos. There is such an awesome variety of places, all close together. We even found some new spots I hadn't used yet, and my new favorite place down by the old brewery. I love this first picture! As always with seniors, here is a huge sneak peek. I can never pick favorites..we use so many cool spots, I can never narrow it down for the blog! It was great to meet you, and your family! Have a great senior year!

Another Beautiful Family

Yesterday I got to photograph a beautiful family for a friend that I work with at school, just before the two kids are ready to head off/back to college. What a beautiful family, and I love how their outfits coordinate to awesome. It's amazing how that can enhance a photo. It was definitely the fastest photo session I've done. It's amazing how well 4 adults follow directions and how quickly that makes it go! :) I hope you like your sneak peek. I'm excited for you to see the rest of them too!

What a great weekend I had! My Uncle Kelly (dad's brother) and Aunt Lynda and their family were all up from Iowa to visit! Yea for the PGA Championship being in town to bring them up north! It was so fun to see everyone. I hadn't got to meet my cousin Kari's handsome new little man Patrick yet, so it was great to see him. He is already 7 months old, and may have gotten some new teeth while he was up! My cousin Steph's kids seem like they should still just be little and they definitely aren't little anyomre! You can see how gorgeous her family is here too. I got to take some family photos for them, since they aren't always all together either. We made it in between rain and managed to get some beautiful photos for them. It was good practice for me too, as I don't always get to work with larger groups. It was SO great to see you all. We definitely need to not let that much time go by before our next visit!

If you know my dad, you can't tell that he and my uncle Kelly are brothers at all right?! (Note the sarcasm!) :)

New Prague Senior

Yesterday I got to photograph my first senior from New Prague! We checked out some places around Jordan, and then went over to the MN Landscape Arboretum. There were so many places to take some beautiful photos. We even had a little run in with a little snake. It was pretty little, but managed to scare the daylights out of me. I knew it was going to happen sooner or later. Ick. Anyway, we got some beautiful photos. It was great to meet you. I hope you enjoy your preview!! Good luck this year!

Okay, this blog post is HUGE! I have the hardest time with seniors because I can't pick out favorites! This Chaska senior girl is just beautiful and I think these photos sure show it. We went to Loring Park, and I think that has officially become my favorite place to take pictures. I actually think there are too many good spots..if that can be possible! This little guy turned 1 this weekend, and I got to take some photos of him on Sunday! I've been lucky enough to do his 6 and 9 month photos as well, and he sure has grown. He wasn't super happy to see my on Sunday, but I think we still got some cute shots. He is SO close to walking! He isn't quite ready to go on his own yet, but with just a little bit of help from mom or dad's finger, he was all over the yard. I had fun seeing you all again. Here are a few from Sunday. This beautiful Chaska senior would definitely win a most photogenic contest if she were to enter..as you can see, the camera loved her! She is just beautiful. Yesterday I got to visit and photograph a new little beauty who will be joining my little one at her daycare. Avery already gets to hang out with the handsome big brother each now, and now pretty Miss C. is joining the crew. All of these seniors lately keep reminding me that back-to-school is just around the corner! Wow, that summer went fast! This handsome Chaska senior and I met up for some senior pictures, and I once again, had a great time! Senior session are so much fun. We found some new beautiful places around Chaska, and even got onto the football field for a few. I hope you like them so far!

Whew...This handsome little man gave me a workout today! I think he discovered every spot in the park today, from one side to the other. 18 Month Old Cutie- Take 1!

Yesterday morning I got to photograph two little friends, and they were about the cutest things ever! I will admit, 2 18 month old boys at once had me a little nervous..but we had so much fun! This is the second time I've gotten to photograph this handsome little dude, and it was so fun to see him again, and see how much he's grown. I love that part! Mom also chose the cutest shirt for him to wear, and I love how the colors just pop out with the green grass! Here are a few of little buddy #1! Is he a doll or what?!

Chaska Senior

Tonight I got to spend a beautiful evening on the lake photographing this handsome Chaska senior! We didn't even have to leave his backyard for these photos. I was like a kid in a candy store... they're lucky they got me out of their yard! It really was just beautiful. He also plays the guitar, so we got some photos of that as well, and he even played a little for me while I was taking his pictures. I told you it was a good night!
